December's Athlete of the Month

You will usually find Kenny at one of the mid day classes occasionally dressed in a full Elvis costume. Kenny’s every coaches ideal CrossFit athlete. He is committed to the program, listens to coaches instructions, scales to get better, RX's work outs he can and always brings a sense of humor to class. Kenny is also active in the Spartan Race community and is going to help lead the charge in organizing some races for the CFRC squad when the weather breaks, right Kenny? For these reasons and many more, Kenny has been nominated as December’s Athlete of the month.

 

How long have you been doing CrossFit? Did you start with CFRC?
 
I started with CFRC in April this year.
 
Were you active before CrossFit?
 
About 3 years ago I made a decision to get active and move so yes and no, prior to 3 years ago exercise was walking the dogs 
 
What is your best CrossFit memory/biggest accomplishment
 
About a month or so ago, during the warm up for a WOD we were working on Chest to Bar Pull ups and Steve said to me, do you have Bar Muscle Ups, and I said no, he stopped everything and said to me you do, go ahead and do one, first attempt I failed it and the next one bam over the bar!  That bar Muscle up was a goal I had for a while
 
What physical and mental changes have you seen since starting CrossFit?
 
I have progressed steadily with strength, I have been doing more and more WODS at RX weights.  More and more skills are getting accomplished.  I also hate missing a day, kills me when I can’t get to the Box…
 
What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
 
Currently I would have to say my favorite thing is the Muscle up, I had that goal of getting over the bar prior to even starting Crossfit, I just didn’t know how to move.
 
If you could take any piece of equipment home to workout with, which would you take?
 
Give me that Damn Assault bike, that thing is my nemesis, but it’s a great piece of equipment
What are your CrossFit goals for 2018?
 
Master Double Unders and the Ring Muscle up
 
 Would you recommend CrossFit Reconstructed to your family and friends?
 
Always do!  The CFRC family is great and I tell everyone that listens to come and try it.
